Course Description

Semester A

In this course, students will examine United States history from the Age of Exploration through the Age of Jackson. Learners will consider the ways in which basic governmental, economic, and geographical concepts impacted the course of history.

 

Semester B

In this second half of Social Studies 8, students will continue their learning about the history of the United States as they examine the factors that led to the American Civil War, the war itself, the Reconstruction Era, and the post-Reconstruction era through the 1920s. Students will continue to apply principles and concepts of economics, government, and geography to the events of history.
